The Digital Optical Audio Link (DOAL01) system is a high quality digital audio link that is used to exchange audio data in a harsh RF electromagnetic environment like that encountered during radiated immunity tests in an anechoic chamber or in a cell.
The link is bi-directional, half duplex, and makes use of optical fibers.
The system connects the audio acquisition/generation devices (speaker/microphone) on the side exposed to RF and the analysis/generation instrumentation on the control side.
The purpose is to acquire sounds in an anechoic chamber for spectral analysis or inject accurately controlled tones into the same chamber.
The audio data stream uses A/D and D/A conversion, at 48 kHz sample rate, 24 bits, coded according to standard S/PDIF.
On the control side digital S/PDIF coded information is also available in addition to the analog output.
